Pinterest Keyword Grouper

Paste a messy keyword list and get tidy topic groups, a board name for each and pin titles to start with.

One keyword per line, or separated by commas. Up to 1,000.

Load keywords from a .csv or .xlsx file, such as a Pinterest Trends or Google Keyword Planner export. A column named Keyword is picked for you. The file stays on your device.

Keywords in smaller groups go to Other keywords.

Groups are based on shared words only. This tool has no search volume or competition data; use Pinterest Trends or the search bar suggestions to judge demand.

How to use the Pinterest Keyword Grouper

    1. 1

      Paste your keywords

Put one keyword per line, or separate them with commas. You can paste a column straight from a spreadsheet. Duplicates are removed automatically.

    2. 2

      Check the groups

Each card is one topic with a suggested board name, its keywords and pin title ideas. Keywords that share no words with others go to Other keywords. Raise Smallest group to get fewer, larger groups.

    3. 3

      Copy or export

Copy one group, copy everything, or download a CSV with each keyword and pin title tagged by group and board. Use it to plan boards and the next batch of pins.

Keyword research for Pinterest usually ends with a long, unsorted list: phrases from the search bar suggestions, Pinterest Trends and your own analytics. Before you can use it, you need to know which keywords belong together, because one board and one set of pins should cover one topic. Sorting a hundred phrases by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.

This grouper does the first pass for you. It finds the words your keywords share, spots the overall theme of the list (such as "fall") and groups each keyword under its most useful shared word, so "fall front porch ideas" and "small front porch fall decor" land together. Every group gets a suggested board name and three pin title ideas. It works on words only and has no search volume data. Bulk mode lets you import the list straight from a CSV or Excel file, such as a Pinterest Trends or Keyword Planner export, instead of pasting it.

    How the grouping works

Each keyword is split into words. Common filler such as for, the, easy and ideas is ignored, and simple plurals are matched, so wreath and wreaths count as one word. A word that appears in more than half of the list is treated as the theme rather than a group, so a list of fall keywords is not lumped into one giant fall group.

Every keyword then joins the group of the word it shares with the most other keywords. Broad words such as decor or recipe are used only when nothing more specific is shared, and groups smaller than your minimum fold into a member's next best group or into Other keywords. It is a fast, predictable first pass. Read through the groups and move anything that belongs elsewhere.

From groups to boards and pins

A group with many keywords is a good candidate for its own board, or a board section if it sits inside a larger topic. Keep board names short and searchable; the board name generator gives more options. Smaller groups often work better as a handful of pins on an existing board.

Use each keyword in a pin title and description rather than packing several into one pin. The Pinterest headline analyzer scores your title drafts, and the content calendar helps you spread the pins over the weeks before the season peaks.

    Pinterest Keyword Grouper FAQ

Where do I find Pinterest keywords to group?

Type a topic into the Pinterest search bar and note the suggested phrases and the guided search words under the bar. Pinterest Trends shows which terms are rising, and Pinterest Analytics shows the searches your pins already appear in.

Does this tool show search volume?

No. It groups keywords by the words they share and has no access to Pinterest search data. Pinterest Trends gives a relative sense of interest over time for terms it tracks.

How many keywords should one Pinterest board target?

There is no fixed number. A board should cover one clear topic, and every keyword in it should describe pins a searcher would expect to find there. If a group mixes two ideas, split it into two boards or sections.

Why did some keywords end up in Other keywords?

They share no specific word with enough other keywords to form a group of your chosen minimum size. Lower Smallest group to 2, add related keywords, or place them on a board by hand.

Is my keyword list saved or uploaded?

It is not uploaded. The grouping runs in your browser, and the list is remembered in this browser's storage so it is still there when you come back.

Can I group many keywords at once from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Click Import CSV or Excel and choose a .csv or .xlsx file, such as a Pinterest Trends export or a Google Keyword Planner download. The grouper picks the Keyword column, or you can choose another column, and fills the list for you. Up to 1,000 keywords are grouped, and Download CSV saves every group with its board name and title ideas.
