Follower growth on Pinterest is slow and steady for most accounts, which makes it hard to tell if you are on track. This calculator takes your current follower count and either a monthly growth percentage or a fixed number of new followers per month, then projects the next 12 months in a table and a bar chart.
Add a goal, such as 1,000 or 10,000 followers, and it tells you which month you would reach it at the current pace and what monthly growth you would need to hit it within a year. It is a projection of your own trend, not a prediction, so update it every month with real numbers.
How the projection works
With percentage growth, each month adds the rate to the previous month's total: followers next month = followers × (1 + rate ÷ 100). Small rates compound, so 5% a month is far more than 60% over a year. With net adds, each month simply adds the same number.
To find your own rate, take followers at the end of last month, subtract followers at the end of the month before, divide by the earlier figure and multiply by 100. Average two or three months to smooth out a single viral pin.
Followers are not the main Pinterest metric
Pinterest shows pins to people based on search and interests, not only to followers, so an account with few followers can still get a lot of traffic. Followers help most when you publish often, because new pins appear in their home feed. Track impressions and outbound clicks alongside followers with the engagement rate calculator.
Steady publishing of fresh pins is what tends to move the follower curve. The fresh pin planner and content calendar help you keep a pace you can sustain.
